The Witches of Delray Beach Bike Ride is an annual October event hosted by Achievement Centers for Children & Families (ACCF), a nonprofit serving under-resourced children and families in Delray Beach. Hundreds of participants ride down Atlantic Avenue in full witch costume on decorated bicycles, raising funds for ACCF’s early learning, after-school, and family support programs. It has grown into one of Palm Beach County’s most distinctive Halloween traditions — family-friendly, community-rooted, and genuinely fun.
About the Event
The ride starts at Delray Beach City Hall and proceeds down Atlantic Avenue to the historic Old School Square Pavilion. The Delray Beach Police Department guides participants along the route. Post-ride awards are presented for categories including Best Costume, Best Witch Cackle, Best Decorated Broom (Bike), and Best Group Theme.
The annual event has historically drawn approximately 300 riders and has grown each year since its founding. For Wellington families, the Delray Beach location is approximately 35–40 minutes south via I-95 — a manageable morning outing for a distinctive Halloween experience.
Pre-Event Festivities
In recent years, ACCF has expanded the October programming surrounding the main ride. Past pre-event additions have included:
- “Not Your Basic Witch” Hat Decorating Event: Hosted by designer and Project Runway alum Amanda Perna at the House of Perna Boutique & Atelier, 8 E. Atlantic Avenue, Delray Beach; open to registered participants preparing their ride costumes
- Witches Brew at Tim Finnegan’s Irish Pub: A pre-ride fundraiser event held in the weeks before the main ride; one of the event’s longstanding supporting programming traditions

About Achievement Centers for Children & Families (ACCF)
ACCF is a community-based nonprofit committed to serving under-resourced children and families in Delray Beach. The organization operates programs across three locations: Nancy K. Hurd Campus, Village Academy, and Pine Grove Elementary. Current programs include Early Learning, After School, Teen and Summer Camp, and Family Support services. ACCF serves nearly 700 children and families annually.
