Before adding a Wellington or Palm Beach County home to your list, put its street address beside the district's school locator and the latest school report. Keep two questions separate: which school serves the address, and what information helps you evaluate that school?
This guide updates the earlier article's 2023-24 results with the 2025-26 release. It gives you a starting point for comparing official information and asking the district or school the questions that matter to you.
What the current Florida report measures
The Florida Department of Education accountability page provides school grades, district grades, results packets, calculation guides and archived years. For 2026, the results packet describes achievement, learning gains, graduation and acceleration measures, with applicable components depending on the school and available data.
A letter grade summarizes performance under a particular state formula. It does not describe every course, service or aspect of a school day. Read the associated components and compare the correct reporting years alongside the letter.
The state's September 2026 materials also describe changes in grading scales for the following 2026-27 cycle. Those future scales do not replace the published 2025-26 grades. Check which scale and year a chart is using before interpreting a change.
For a practical comparison, keep a note of the source, year, school name and school number. Use the official state file for the reported result; a screenshot or real-estate description may be older or omit important context.
Palm Beach County kept its A
The state's 2025-26 results packet, updated September 8, 2026, lists Palm Beach County with an A district grade. This is a district-level result, not a claim that every individual campus earned an A.
In its July 1, 2026 announcement, the district reported 68% of possible points, compared with 66% in 2024-25. It also reported 143 district-operated schools, or 84%, earning A or B, and no district-operated schools receiving D or F. These figures are attributed to that dated announcement; use the state's updated files when checking an individual school.
Keep the population clear. District-operated school figures do not automatically describe every charter, private or alternative school in the county. A district total and a particular school's grade answer different questions.
For the school you are considering, check the latest official grade and its components, then ask the school about the programs and services relevant to the student. A countywide headline is useful context, while the campus review makes the comparison specific.
Compare other districts using the same year
The same 2026 state results packet lists Indian River, Martin, St. Lucie, Miami-Dade and Broward with A district grades, and Okeechobee with C. Those are dated district results; they replace the earlier article's regional snapshot for the 2023-24 cycle.
Use a consistent year and source when comparing districts. Avoid treating a district letter as a ranking of every campus or as a prediction of an individual student's experience. Review the school and program separately from the district summary.
If a move takes you across a county boundary, use that district's own enrollment and attendance resources. A postal city name, nearby school or familiar neighborhood label does not establish the applicable district or assignment.
Use grades alongside the address and programs
- Check the exact address: Start with the district's enrollment and boundary resources and confirm the applicable school year with the district. A listing or nearby campus is not assignment confirmation.
- Read the school result: Match the campus name and school number to the state report and note the year. Look at the components and prior reports for context.
- Check program access: Review the district's School Choice information for application, eligibility and selection details. Owning a nearby home does not by itself establish admission to a choice program.
- Ask about the school day: Discuss relevant courses, services, schedules and transportation with the school or district. A single letter grade cannot answer all those questions.
