The April 2026 announcement is the culmination of five years of planning, not a reactive response to a crisis.

I’ve had buyers specifically raise the fire station question about Arden and about other far-western communities. It’s a fair question. Five miles in an emergency is a real consideration.

Station 70 removes that concern. An ALS Engine and ALS Rescue stationed adjacent to Saddle View Elementary puts fire and emergency medical response within Arden’s own community. That’s a materially different picture for response time.

The western corridor around 20-Mile Bend has seen some of the most concentrated residential growth in Palm Beach County over the past five years. Arden alone is approaching 2,000 homes. Westlake, the incorporated city just north, continues to build out. Saddle View Elementary, originally planned for 2027, was accelerated by two years because of growth pace and opened in August 2025 with 950 students.

Fire and EMS infrastructure in Florida is funded and planned by county fire rescue departments based on projected population growth. PBCFR’s decision to begin funding Station 70 in FY2022 reflects that planning horizon — the department was building ahead of the growth curve, not behind it.
